DESCRIPTION:Game on! \nWe’re partnering with the Lancaster Rec Esports program for a day of video game design and play! Compete in popular games like Super Smash Brothers™ and Mario Kart™. Players can test their skills\, cheer on friends\, and experience the excitement of esports in a welcoming\, supportive environment.\n\nVisitors of all ages can also participate in our Play for Impact Video Game Design Workshops. Participants will design\, develop\, and test their own video game using Scratch\, a block-based programming tool.\n\nStay tuned for more video game fun as the event gets closer!  This event is presented free with admission.  \nClick here to purchase tickets in advance for April 11th. Tickets will also be sold at the door.\nWhy Video Games and Esports?\nEsports is one of the fastest-growing career fields in the world\, offering opportunities not only as players but also in areas like computer programming\, digital art\, broadcasting\, marketing\, and game development. DESCRIPTION:Explore Your Amazing Mind\nWe’ve got the brain on the brain! Join us on Saturday\, March 21st\, from 10 AM–3 PM as we host Brain Discovery Day. Best of all\, all activities are included FREE with admission! \nIn addition to 80+ hands-on exhibits\, you can also enjoy these special experiences: \nExpose Your Nose:Start your visit at the Science Café with an interactive smell challenge. Here\, you’ll discover how your brain interprets scent and why smells are so strongly connected to memory and emotion. \nBrain Dissection Demonstrations:Meanwhile\, Millersville University will host live demonstrations of sheep brain dissections throughout the day. As you observe and identify different parts of the brain\, you’ll learn how our brains are both different and surprisingly similar. \nAlthough this is not a hands-on workshop\, demonstrations will take place in the Castagna Classroom from 10:00 AM–1:00 PM. Guests are welcome to stop in at any time to view the dissections on a projector screen and\, additionally\, ask questions as they explore. \nStroke Detectives:In addition\, Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center will lead this interactive program that turns children into rookie detectives. Through this experience\, participants will learn to identify the basics of stroke and common risk factors. Ultimately\, they’ll solve the mystery and help decode our amazing brains! \nThis experience takes place in our Makerspace Classroom\, with sessions every half hour from 10:00 AM–2:30 PM. Each session accommodates up to 25 guests. To attend\, stop by the front desk to select and receive a ticket for an available 30-minute time slot. \nFinally\, click here to purchase advance tickets for Saturday\, March 21st; however\, tickets will also be available at the door. Members and those using free-admission programs should not purchase tickets in advance. \nPLEASE NOTE: Purchasing a ticket to the Lancaster Science Factory does not guarantee entrance to special events and workshops.
