The Lancaster Science Factory exhibits are generally geared for kids in grades K - 8th.  They are the most fun when kids and grown ups play and learn together.

Younger children certainly have fun on our exhibit floor, but will need closer supervision. Some exhibits contain small pieces.

The main exhibit floor, Maker Space classroom and Castanga Learning Center are wheelchair accessible.

Members of other Association of Science-Technology Centers (ASTC) museums are welcome to use their membership at the Lancaster Science Factory if they meet  Passport Program guidelines.

FREE parking is available in our lot directly across the street. Please use the crosswalk to cross safely!

We ask that our visitors do NOT park in spaces designated for residents of Urban Place, which is a residential building located next door.

The Lancaster Science Factory is a favorite field trip destination for schools and youth serving organizations from all over Central Pennsylvania and beyond. Peak group visitation times are weekdays from 10am – 2pm from March to early June.

Saturdays from December - February are also busy.

Visitors who wish to visit during the quietest times should consider joining us on Sundays or any day in September or October.

Noise cancelling headphones for guests with sensitivity to noise are available by request at our admissions desk.

Visit lengths will vary. Plan at least two and a half hours to visit every exhibit, but often children will spend extra time at their favorite exhibits, experimenting through play in our test zones, or participating in a workshop in our Maker Space.  Admission is good for an entire day, so feel free to leave and return as you please.

Often the Lancaster Science Factory will host special events and educational programs- be sure to check our Calendar of Events to find out what we’re up to next!

Our exhibit hall is an open floor plan so you can move at your own pace however you wish. Maps and guided activity guides are available at the front desk- but aren’t required.

In order to keep all of our exhibits clean and in good working order, we do not allow food in the Science Factory. We also take food allergies very seriously and reserve the right to remove food found on our exhibit hall floor.

There are several Family-friendly dining options (at various price-points) within walking distance or within a short drive. Please visit the front desk for a list of suggestions that are open during the day and time of your visit!
