We’ve got the brain on the brain! Join us on Saturday, March 21st, from 10 AM–3 PM as we host Brain Discovery Day. Best of all, all activities are included FREE with admission!

In addition to 80+ hands-on exhibits, you can also enjoy these special experiences:

Expose Your Nose:
Start your visit at the Science Café with an interactive smell challenge. Here, you’ll discover how your brain interprets scent and why smells are so strongly connected to memory and emotion.

Brain Dissection Demonstrations:
Meanwhile, Millersville University will host live demonstrations of sheep brain dissections throughout the day. As you observe and identify different parts of the brain, you’ll learn how our brains are both different and surprisingly similar.

Although this is not a hands-on workshop, demonstrations will take place in the Castagna Classroom from 10:00 AM–1:00 PM. Guests are welcome to stop in at any time to view the dissections on a projector screen and, additionally, ask questions as they explore.

Stroke Detectives:
In addition, Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center will lead this interactive program that turns children into rookie detectives. Through this experience, participants will learn to identify the basics of stroke and common risk factors. Ultimately, they’ll solve the mystery and help decode our amazing brains!

This experience takes place in our Makerspace Classroom, with sessions every half hour from 10:00 AM–2:30 PM. Each session accommodates up to 25 guests. To attend, stop by the front desk to select and receive a ticket for an available 30-minute time slot.
