Are you Ready to Rock, Again?

The Lancaster Science Factory will UPGRADE the Rock ‘n’ Roll Stage for our 5th Annual “Science is Amazing” Festival, March 25, 2017!

(Lancaster, PA.) Last year, the Lancaster Science Factory, along with Central PA’s Rock N Roll community, launched the Rock ‘n’ Roll Stage Exhibit as part of their “Science is Amazing” Festival. To celebrate its 1 year anniversary, we are adding more interactive elements and features to the Stage, set to be upgraded by the 2017 Science is Amazing Festival taking place on March 25, 2017. This is a continuing collaboration with the Central PA rock ’n’ roll community – Nimblist, ATOMIC, TAIT, Clair Global, and Control Freak Systems – the exhibit is meant to teach Factory guests about the science and technology behind entertainment.

Planned upgrades include a rigging rope-tying exhibit where guests can learn 3 basic rigging knots, interactive photo-ops where kids can be a rock star or a roadie, dress up like roadie with such wearables as hard hats, safety glasses and vests, smocks and even their own back stage pass! On stage will be a Shakespeare light that kids can mix and match templates (cut out patterns) and different gel colors to make scenes. Of course, the existing lighting and sound tables will be fully functional where guests can mix colors to light the stage, and take a turn at the sound board to learn about pitch and gain. If you want to be really bold, grab the microphone and be a rock star!

The exhibit is a permanent install for the Science Factory and has been a big hit with more than 40,000 people visiting the Science Factory during the last year. Representatives from the creative collective will be present on March 25 to kick things off and visit with attendees. The “Science is Amazing” Festival first started in 2013 and is a free festival open to the public and includes all Science Factory exhibits, plus special science demonstrations, exhibits and activities.

Demonstrations, activities and experiments are for children and their families, involving the children as hand-on participants. All activities are safe for children of all ages with plenty of ‘wow’ factor!! The Festival will consist of individuals and organizations presenting content related to physical science, engineering, technology or math.
